New Moon in Sagittarius - December 19, 2025
On Friday, December 19th, 2025 at 5:43 PST/8:43 EST the moon begins a new cycle in the free spirited and adventure seeking sign of Sagittarius. This is the last New Moon of the year right before Winter Solstice on December 21st and it’s not just a monthly reset, but a bridge between the person you’ve been in 2025 and the version of yourself waiting in 2026.
Embodying the archetype of the Archer, this New Moon asks us to point our arrows toward a more meaningful vision. It requires a bold willingness to question our old beliefs and adjust our course as we go. As Mercury is now direct and out of the shadow, the energy shifts from reflection to action. Ask yourself: Where have you been shrinking to fit, and where are you finally ready to expand?"
With Venus, the planet of attraction and what we value most, closely aligned to this New Moon we’ll find that this lunation is quite relational and can function to enhance and evolve our connections. If you feel stuck in a relationship or in a situationship that’s holding you back, give it some time, things may start to open up for you soon. Mars, the planet of assertion and drive, also enters the picture suggesting there could be strong feelings, and an urge to pursue what we want instead of waiting for things to change on their own. It’s also possible that there are some conflicts to be worked through. Whatever you decide to set into motion will require significant effort, but if you stick it through, in the end it will be well worth your energy, and the wait.
This New Moon’s challenging connection to Saturn, the planet of restrictions and limits, and Neptune, the mystical and dreamy planet, suggests we may need to renovate some of our beliefs, especially where we’ve become too narrow minded. This alignment with the New Moon is also giving us a preview of what’s possible in the following year, especially as we draw closer to February 20th when the conjunction becomes exact. You might come to a realization that some dreams or fantasies were simply beautiful illusions. While this can be painful or feel like a loss, it’s actually a necessary clearing.
It’s also possible that you feel poised for a breakthrough, ready to shift your life into a new trajectory, or move beyond some of your limiting beliefs. There still may be some disillusionment you have to go through first. If you do, try not to ignore your needs or repress your emotions. The good news is, not all has to be lost, but you may need to do some work to realign with the reality of what’s in front of you.
Maybe your dream or vision was too much in the clouds and the adjustment is learning what it looks like when it lands on the ground. At the very least you’re offered a chance to reimagine or create a new vision for yourself, but it needs to involve a big dose of reality. As long as you remain patient and grounded, you will find that the reality you are creating is much closer to what you actually need than the fantasy ever was.
Consider these questions: Where do you feel small, stuck or stifled? How can I create more space in these areas? How can I cultivate more faith in my own path? What would I do right now if I were guaranteed success?
While the "real" New Year (astrologically speaking) doesn’t start until the Aries New Moon in April 2026, this December lunation is your time to lay the groundwork. It’s an invitation to stop apologizing for what you want. You are the one holding the arrows. If you don’t like where you’re headed, you are allowed to aim somewhere else. Use this lunation to lay your groundwork. Remember that real expansion begins from within. Give yourself permission to dream big again, especially if past disappointments made you feel insecure. Try to trust what’s unfolding, even if you can’t see the destination just yet.
